Objectives
The main goal of the user testing was to get other people who did not know my project to try out my software and get their feedback about it. In this, I aim to gain insight from three metrics:
- Learnability
- How easily can a new user learn the controls of the software?
- Usability
- After knowing the controls, how easy is it to do sign language gestures and create sentences?
- Accuracy
- In which words will a user intentionally do a gesture and the correct option turn out?
Testing Method
Designing the setup
- To setup my testing environment, I will prepare the laptop and camera with which the software is in a specific unmovable place, so that the positions are constant.
- I will place the live feed in a projector in order to be viewed and presented.
- I will place a laptop/tablet with the tutorial in front of the user but under the camera.
- I will allow one user to come to this area and try out the prototype.
Testing Effectiveness
To test the effectiveness of my software, I aim to let the users interact with my prototype. It will follow the following steps:
- Users will come one by one.
- Let the users read the tutorial slides that I have made.
- Let the users try the software without any explanation from me, not even the premise of my project.
- I will do an interview after they are done trying it out, I will simply ask the same questions as stated in the objectives, and maybe a discussion about specifics.
Data Collection Method
To collect the data, I used observation of users and eventually doing exit interviews, noting all of them on my tablet:
